Fought the Monday blues with my weekly lie-in. Then did various life admin tasks for an hour, with quite a lot of life getting in the way of the admin. Then set off to teach piano; scenes of absolute hilarity ensued, with ruthless remarks exchanged about eating habits.
Fulfilled my yearlong desire to go to Nâm Song, as I now live far enough away to legitimise a visit. Finished of The Gunslinger by Stephen King. Since watching mother! I’ve been really struck at how important intimacy with Jesus is, like that story he tells of the house falling down. One of the final passages of the book reads,
“He was lonely but did not find loneliness in any way a bad or ignoble thing.”
I’ve been wondering a lot about why we bother putting such a high emphasis on friendships and relationships. Even God thinks they’re necessary, because he said it’s not good for man to be alone. But then if you’re not comfortable in your own skin, you’ll be pretty miserable. I love spending time with others, but I can’t be blind to the fact I’ll be spending most time in my own company, and Holyspirit’s.
